RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Doing a bit of QC of the latest 3D print before really worrying about work.
It’s an 18650 to 2- D battery case. It should any ‘inline’ two D-cell battery device, like a flashlight. Overall, it printed just fine. Just have to fabricate the center conductor..

RE: Solarwinds Blames Intern for Laughable Password
It’s been a number of years now that it was possible to set minimum requirements for a password. There is no reason for this to have happened...
That said- is it the Intern’s fault, or the person / team that sets forth that policy...

RE: Lame MS Win 10 Annoyances ..
@Pete-S said in Lame MS Win 10 Annoyances ..:
So if you want it sorted in a particular way or whatever, you should open the files from the file explorer and not the application itself.
This is the same view from Libre Office - Writer. It is as I want - and have come to expect:
VLC:
So - maybe it is as I have set it, and want. It's just that one program is jacked (IMHO) and likely little I will be able to do with it.
Lame MS,.. Just LAME.

Lame MS Win 10 Annoyances ..
I've been trying to get this view changed for weeks,.. and it never works.
Googled it, attempted it,.. and every process has left me with the same view - when opening a file/document from the application - in this case Ulitmaker CURA - which I use for the 3D printer. But doesn't matter what application used.
When I use Explorer it is shown as preferred.
I have no use for 'Sort by Date.' Not saying it isn't useful,.. but I have no need for it. I've reset Explorer, changed it to a difference view, and set as default. And yet,.. it remains in the sort by date.
Isn't the default Explorer view supposed to be used by applications as well?

RE: Defective Laptop - how to get browsers bookmarks
@DustinB3403 said in Defective Laptop - how to get browsers bookmarks:
I would simply connect the drive to another computer and browse to the bookmarks location of each browser.
Chrome "For the current problem, the bookmarks are stored in a file named Bookmarks in the Chrome profile, which is stored in the User data area. (Example: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks) You can copy it to the new profile."
That should get you up and online.
Yup, I do this and the user gets pretty much a turn key experience. Anything chromium base will be like this,.. pretty much anyway.
If you need, I can likely share the syntax I use for grabbing Chrome and Edge for a back up.

RE: Add file type to Office Save As: .ans
As it turns out, it is called
Text with Layout
It uses txtlyt32.cnv which is in the (x86)\common file\Microsoft shared\Textcnv
It is a standard MS-DOS text file with layout, or fixed columns.
